So, I have been talking to PayPal for about 2 weeks now trying to find a way to provide a subscription based service for a site of mine. We are currently using the subscribe function, but this method requires you to have a paypal account. Well we have found that a lot of people don’t complete the registration, and I believe it is because they don’t want to sign up with PayPal. So anyways we have been looking for a different way to do recurring payments that don’t require a paypal account. This is where paypal 2.0 comes in to play. It is suppose to be a payment gateway as well as a merchant account. A merchant account is usually a bank or credit card company. Well with paypal 2.0 paypal is going to be the merchant account. This is going to save us lots of money because merchant accounts can be expensive when you have to pay for that and the gateway.
I just hope they roll it out soon. I have been told several times that it will be out tomorrow but it keeps getting pushed back. I keep losing subscriptions
Well if I ever get to try PayPal 2.0 out I will post on how it works for us.

Okay I finally got everything needed to setup recurring payments using paypal and paypal manager. I went back and forth trying to decied if I wanted to use a shopping cart or custom build my own. After a looking at the different carts out there and not finding anything that would do want I wanted I started on my own custom solution. Basically PayPal tied in my old PayPal account with my new PayPal manager account so when I recieve a payment it just goes into my PayPal account. Plus, the transaction costs are pretty much the same as a regular PayPal transaction. I would recommend this setup to anyone looking for a merchant account especially if you are already using PayPal.
